” For those who just follow what studio masters say without thinking and reflecting, they get frustrated at almost every turn. “

” For those who just follow what studio masters say without thinking and reflecting, they get frustrated at almost every turn. “

During the design thesis program we will witness how disciplined and strong-willed the students will progress and expressed to cope with the whole learning process. There is a tendency to cling to or be comforted by following what the tutor said, but this will be confronted by the external critics and even the group of tutors themselves as the program unfolds.

“Just follow” seems almost a shameful act and seems to reflect the lack of independent thinking and backbone by the student as frustration is what they will get at every turn.

The program is predictable and was intentionally designed as such. Some tweaks here and there to accommodate to what had not been successful before, but generally, it provides the experience that is possible to be totally satisfied at the end.

It involves a great deal of sacrifice by the students and if the student felt unsatisfied, we would want the fault to lay less on the facilitation of the program but more on the student himself because it simply would not be fair if the program does not allow for challenges to be great, in the very least.
